The Woman I Admire Most

I don't even know how to start this post, there are so many things I want to write! So, I guess I'll start from the beginning. I was born in December of 1989 to Chuck and Denise. According to family I was a miracle pregnancy, my parents had had my sister 7 years before and had tried to have another child for many years. My Mom endured multiple ectopic pregnancies and a few miscarriages before becoming pregnant with me. After having my own miscarriage, and carrying twins, I honestly can't imagine the physical and emotional pain that she went through each time that her pregnancy was not viable.

In addition to being a warrior, my mom is smart (with doctor's handwriting although she's a nurse), fun (always the first to jump off the dock) and the person I call with the best and the worst news. She's been there to support me, even when I didn't deserve it, and has helped me get through every milestone I have encountered. She's not only a great mom, but she's a wonderful grandmother. She moved in with us for just shy of 3 weeks when Hank and Louie arrived. Most likely it was in her best interest to just stay, we would have been calling her 100 times a day if she wasn't here anyways. She continues to come out to our house on her days off, spending as much time with them as she can. For me, the best part of when she visits is when the boys nap - because we can sit on the couch, or on the front porch and chat.

I didn't always want to hang out with her, and it's embarrassing to admit how I treated her during my teenage years... Especially because I am 110% my mother's daughter. I have her curls, her height and her lack of flexibility. I also have her sense of wonder, her love for Gin & Tonics and the passion that she has for living each day to the fullest.

Mom, thank you for always believing in me. Thank you for teaching me how to be a great mom. Thank you for being patient with me when I'm a hot mess. Thank you for all of the laughs and the cries we've shared.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

xoxo, Megan
